The Arizona Cardinals announced a mass signing of players to future contracts for the 2016 season. 11 players, all of whom spend this past season the team's practice squad. These are the players will be back for at least the team's offseason:
CB Carrington Byndom
T Rob Crisp
S Durrell Eskridge
RB Marion Grice
RB Robert Hughes
G Antoine McClain
LB Quayshawn Nealy
DT Olsen Pierre
WR Jaxon Shipley
T John Wetzel
CB Kevin White
Crisp was on the practice squad injured reserve almost the entire season. The rest of the guys were who the team had on the practice squad at the end of the season.
The team has some belief in some of these players moving forward as perhaps more than just camp bodies.
When head coach Bruce Arians addressed the media for the last time as part of the 2015 season on Monday, he said "the young guys on the practice squad, I think, have really good futures."
Specifically, if we look back at training camp, and when some of these players were brought in originally, Shipley and Crisp were two of their priority undrafted rookie signings. Grice, a former Arizona State Sun Devil and a guy who was on the active roster in 2014 and even scored a touchdown in last year's playoff loss in Carolina, is a guy whose skill set matches what they want in their running backs. He had injury issues in camp and was brought back late in the season.
The other players are still quite unknown to people outside the locker room, but it would appear we should look to those guys -- Gruce, Crisp and Shipley as guys who could be contributors in 2016.
