The Arizona Cardinals announced another addition to the offseason roster on Thursday. They have added cornerback Asa Jackson to the team, signing him to a future contract, which will take effect in March when the new league year begins.
Jackson (5-10, 183) appeared in 18 career games with six starts for the Baltimore Ravens over the past four seasons after he entered the league as a fifth round selection (169th overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Cal Poly. Jackson set career highs in 2014 with 27 tackles and three passes defensed while playing in seven games (six starts). He played in four games for Baltimore this season until he was released on November 19. Jackson then signed with Cincinnati's practice squad on November 30 where he spent the remainder of the 2015 season.
Jackson doesn't exactly fit the mold Bruce Arians mentioned he was looking for at cornerback (he wants length and speed), but having a young player with league experience can be positive.
