Ryan Williams injury: CB Crezdon Butler brought back to take Williams' spot on roster

The Cardinals don't bring a running back, but do bring back a cornerback that was on the team.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals announced that they placed running back Ryan Williams on injured reserve, officially ending his season, after suffering a shoulder injury that required surgery. To replace him on the 53-man roster, the team re-signed cornerback Crezdon Butler, most recently cut by the Washington Redskins, who signed him after the Cardinals cut him at the end of the preseason.

It is an interesting decision because it does not appear that the Cards have any need at corner and they remain with only three running backs.

So why the move?

Obviously Williams was done for the year, so IR was a logical choice. It looks like with the running backs situation, the team simply does not see anyone who could be an improvement upon who they have. Plus, the team rarely goes with more than three active RBs on gameday anyway. And honestly, was anyone going to be successful?

There is rumored interest in Tim Hightower, but he won't be ready for at least another couple of weeks.

By bringing back Butler, the team perhaps has some concern for depth in the secondary. He is now the back end of the secondary and probably will play special teams.

What do you all think? Good move or bad move?
