Arizona Cardinals Come Out on Top Despite Rough Second half Against the St. Louis Rams: 21-13
The Arizona Cardinals found out a little bit about what they had in Matt Leinart in Sunday's win against the St. Louis Rams. It was not because Arizona was blowing out the Rams, but because Kurt Warner came out after getting a big blow to the head. Warner would be alright and would be on the sidelines the entire game but coach Whisenhunt did not want to take any chances. Luckily for the Cards all of this happened after Warner lead them to three touchdown drives.
The Good
The passing game was pretty good in this game despite not having Kurt Warner in the second half. Warner's final numbers would end up being pretty decent despite only playing one half. He would complete 15/19 passes (78.9 completion percentage) for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He would end up leaving because St. Louis's safety Oshiomogho Atogwe slamming Warner to the turf. This would mean Matt Leinart would get a chance to prove he is the future of this team. Leinart looked rusty in the beginning but started to show signs that he could be decent towards the end of the game. Despite the rustiness he would complete 10/14 passes (71.4 completion percentage) for 74 yards and no touchdowns. Overall, Leinart was not all that bad considering he has not had much playing time.
Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells continue to run very well against the opposition as they racked up 184 yards in Sunday's game. Hightower had the better game of the two rushing for 110 yards on 14 carries (7.9 yards per carry). This would be the first hundred yard rusher Arizona has had all season. Beanie also got 14 carries which went for 74 yards (5.3 yards per carry) and 1 touchdown. Both running backs were explosive and dragged defenders as they ran for extra yardage. The one blip was a lost fumble by Beanie on the opening drive, although it was credited to Warner. If they can continue this week in and week out, the Cards will be among the best teams in the league for awhile.

Post Game Reaction: Warner Out Second Half, Still Win 21-13
Today's game was a flip flop performance by the Cardinals offense. That could also be blamed on the fact that the Cardinals pro bowl quarterback Kurt Warner didn't play the second half of the game. The game began with a Beanie Wells fumble, and the Rams taking advantage of the turnover with a field goal. The offense took a couple drives to get going as they always seem to do, but once they were firing on all cylinders, they jumped out to a 21-3 lead, by running and passing the ball successfully. After Kurt Warner was knocked down halfway through the 2nd quarter, he was able to finish the scoring drive, but didn't return in the game after that. Matt Leinart finished the game, and there was an immediate drop-off on offense. The Cardinals didn't score for the remainder of the game, but the defense came through to hold off the Rams upset. Let's take a look at the positives and negatives.
The Positives
- The running game was also outstanding for a third week in a row. The Cardinals ran for 183 yards, their highest of the season. 50 of the rushing yards came on a big run by Tim Hightower, in which he broke through the line of scrimmage and ran into Rams territory. The Cardinals ability to run has dramatically made this offense better.

The Saturday Sim: Cardinals-Rams
We're at another Saturday Sim, in a simulation between the Arizona Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams, and let me tell you, pay attention to this one. It was a very close game and the Cardinals had their way of disappointing here. I couldn't post last week guys because I didn't have time. It takes some time out of your Friday night to watch a fake football game ; ). Anyways, before I break down the simulation, for those of you who aren't familiar with this, I simulate a game between the Cardinals and their opponent for that given week on the popular game known as Madden. I set it for All Madden difficulty, 8 minute quarters, with a 15 second run off. Then I post the results here. Let's see how the game went.
First Quarter
-The Rams receive the ball and begin running. On the second run of the game, Adrian Wilson forces a fumble and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie scoops it up to return it 42 yards for the touchdown. Cardinals lead 7-0.
- The Rams run more but eventually punt to the Cardinals. The Cards offense struggles to start the quarter and face several three and outs. The Rams march down the field with Steven Jackson leading the way. The Cardinals can't stop the run. At the 1 yard line, Samkon Gado runs in the touchdown to tie the game at 7. Key holding penalties on Mike Gandy and Levi Brown end several drives for the Cardinals. Game tied 7-7.

'Caption This' Arizona Cardinals Style
This week for the Caption This segment, we take a pic from the Cardinals/Seahawks game last Sunday. As you can see, it's a picture that should nicely represent the Seahawk fans. Let's congratulate Drullin'OverDaCards for being the first member to win two weeks, and the first to win back to back captions. Last week he captioned a pic between Ken Whisenhunt and Lovie Smith as "Whiz, "Is that you Lovie, I bet Dennis Green a six pack of coors light I could win this game without ever opening my eyes in the stadium." He now takes first place on the list and bragging rights over everybody else. Remember to rec a caption, that way we get a good amount of votes. As always, fabricate something clever and vote (click on "actions" and click on "rec") the captions that give you a chuckle.

Okeafor out for St Louis Game.
Outside linebacker Chike Okeafor has been battling a back injury the past few weeks had not practiced at all this week. Most of the players that were on the injury list at least got some practice in and are expected to play.

Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams: 5 Keys to Success
When the Arizona Cardinals take the field at the Edward Jones Dome to face the division rival St. Louis Rams, a 6-3 record and the possibility of going 3-1 in the division will be on the line. After nearly blowing another home game to the lowly Seattle Seahawks last week, the Cardinals know that they can't take any opponent for granted, no matter how bad their season has been. So far this year, the Cardinals haven't fell asleep on the road, starting 4-0. Let's take a look at the keys to the game.
1. Slow Steven Jackson: We all know that the Rams best player is running back Steven Jackson. He's currently third in the NFL with 915 rushing yards and has played even better the last few weeks. The one area the Cardinals have struggled at the last 3 weeks has been defending the run. They allowed a whopping 270 rushing yards to the Panthers, and 140 yards to the Seahawks - however, both games were at home. One important stat to take notice of, is that Jackson has only 2 rushing touchdowns on the year. He may get his usual yardage, but if the Cardinals can keep him out of the end zone they'll have a better chance of winning the game.

A Breakout Game for Beanie Wells is on the Horizon
With Sunday's game approaching, rookie running back Beanie Wells has yet to have a "breakout game" if you will. Last week he scored two touchdowns, but was limited to 85 yards. The good news is that Wells did this against an 11th ranked Seahawk rush defense, and the upcoming Rams are presently yielding 142.3 rushing yards per game, which accounts for 28th in the league.
Handing off the ball to Beanie and Tim Hightower(I still have love for him) will be one key to the Cardinals winning the game on Sunday. In their past two games, which have both been victories, Ken Whisenhunt has shown a tendency to open the game with Hightower, and close it with Wells. Should the Cardinals take the same approach on Sunday, Wells may get even more opportunities against a vulnerable defense. The Rams have allowed 13 rushing touchdowns this season, which is 29th in the league, and give up a 4.5 YPA average which is 24th in the league.
