Cardinal of the Week
Arizona Cardinal of the Week: Week 9
As tough as it is to write this story, an old saying says that "the show must go on". The Cardinals lost, and that can't be changed. After falling to the Panthers 34-21, the Cardinals showcased to their home crowd that they don't deserve any national recognition just yet. There were some bright spots however, and that's what we'll look at today.
Tim Hightower - Hightower is starting to show that he can handle multiple responsibilities on offense. Hightower ran the ball 8 times for 39 yards, and also ran in a touchdown. He led the team with 8 catches for 57 yards as well. Even in his second year, Hightower looks like a veteran at times, which isn't a fair expectation for him. However, he's handled it impressively and has shown he can be a leader on the sidelines as well.
Ben Patrick - Patrick continues to impress, showing that he was widely missed while he served a four game suspension to start the year. Patrick caught only two passes on Sunday, but one was a touchdown that brought the Panther lead down to 14 points. Patrick has really made his mark in the blocking department, helping keep Warner safe and support the offensive tackles.

Arizona Cardinal of the Week: Week 7
It was a close one, but in the end, the Arizona Cardinals were the victor. Beating the New York Giants on the road was a big win for this team, and as the season progresses, they'll need to feed off of it. The Cardinals now stand at 4-2, and are surprisingly 3-0 on the road this season. Last night many Cardinals stepped up big time and helped the team get the win. Before we find out who the nominees are, congratulations to Kurt Warner for winning the award last week. Warner was nearly perfect and helped the Cardinals win impressively on the road. This week, the nominees are:
Adrian Wilson: I had to nominate A Dubb first for his duties on the field last night. Wilson was seen flying all over the field and was on Eli Manning's radar more then one time. He finally received more of a national spotlight and I believe that more NFL fans will catch on to him after last night if they haven't already. He had a big game, recording 5 tackles, 1 interception, and 1fumble recovered. Wilson also disrupted several plays and was the main reason the Giants offense struggled so much.
Beanie Wells: This is the game that we've been waiting for from Wells. He didn't break 100 yards and did fumble once out of bounds, but was solid in gaining positive yardage. After a Tim Hightower fumble, Beanie got the nod and provided a burst right away. His touchdown of the night was a thing of beauty as he bounced the ball to the outside, stiff-arming two defenders into the end zone.

Arizona Cardinal of the Week: Week 6
They are who we thought they were..err..thought they would be. The Cardinals played yesterday just about how we expected them to be before the season even started. On all sides of the ball, they won the game. The offense milked most of the time on the clock, the defense stifled the Seahawksin every way, and the special teams unit played good coverage, even recovering a pouch kick off. The Cardinals played an all-around great game. The list can go on for miles after this win, but only a select amount of players can be nominated for Cardinal of the week. Before they are revealed, let's congratulate DRC for winning this amazing reward ok it's not that great, after his big game last week. And here are the nominees:
Kurt Warner - Warner started off going crazy on the first drive, completing all nine of his passes. His lone interception of the game came when the Cardinals threw the hail mary to end the first half. Other then that, Warner remained virtually impossible to stop, only struggling when Levi Brown was owned by Patrick Kerney, or the running game was going nowhere. Warner hasn't let his age have an effect on his so far this season.
Steve Breaston - I called Breaston the Silent Assassin because he quietly kills other teams. That showed yesterday when he took three punts for a combined 64 yards with one being a 36 yard return. He would later score on that return, making an athletic leaping catch to put the game away for good. Breaston is the key to the offense, as he often takes advantage of the coverage that Anquan Boldinand Larry Fitzgerald draw.

Arizona Cardinal Of The Week: Week 5
Week five is officially over for the Arizona Cardinals, who can breathe a sigh of relief, as they recorded a much-needed win on Sunday against the Houston Texans. The Cardinals took a commanding lead to start the first half, but relinquished it by the fourth quarter. Surprisingly, the Cardinals defense, who essentially blew the lead, came up big in the end. Before we move on completely, congrats to Anquan Boldin who won the week three COTW award. This week, it's pretty cut and dry as the candidates were the main reason of the victory.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - DRC primarily covered Kevin Walter for the game, and if you look at Walter's stats(4 catches, 37 yards), Rodgers-Cromartie did his job. The Cardinals defense struggled to contain the Texans passing attack, but DRC came up big with a much needed interception and score, especially when the Cardinals offense was unable to score in the second half.
Kurt Warner - If there was any doubt about his age or ability to get the ball out when needed, it should be gone by now. Kurt Warner threw the ball accurately yesterday, recording two touchdowns, and possibly a third had Anquan Boldin not fumbled in the red zone. While he was nearly perfect in the first half, he struggled in the second, primarily from defensive blitz's and good coverage down field. However, Kurt did what we all prefer, and that's not turn the ball over.

Arizona Cardinal of the Week: Week 3
Another week's gone, and so are some hopes that the Cardinals would retain the helm of the NFC, which in fact looks out of reach after starting 1-2. True, it was a tough first three weeks, but losing the first two games at home is a tough pill to swallow. After throwing my remote through the wall last night, and venting any other anger I had, I finally cooled off today. Although I don't think anyone deserves to be the COTW, the show must go on. Before we look at the nominees, congratulations to Kurt Warner for dominating last week, gathering 302 votes for Cardinal of the week(My, have times changed). This week, I'll keep the list short and sweet.
Steve Breaston: Breaston was able to stay open for a large portion of this game, and appears that Kurt does rely on Breaston to play, more then we had once thought. He's the underrated receiver on the team, but may be the most important to the offense.
Anquan Boldin: Boldin quietly put together a solid game last night. For somebody that we've grown accustomed to hearing complain the last couple seasons, he's remained virtually silent thus far this year. He also scored the lone touchdown of the night.

Arizona Cardinal of the Week: Week 2
After a very impressive victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday, the defending NFC champs are back. Their defense was already playing well, and the offense has finally found their rhythm. Many players stepped up and it might be possible that week one was an actual wake up call for this team. Before we fully move on from week one, let's congratulate Gerald Hayes for winning the coveted ROTB Cardinal of the week award for his week one performance, by gather 133 votes. As far as this week, there's several players that were involved in the victory. Here is the list of nominees.
Kurt Warner - Warner redeemed himself by nearly throwing a perfect game. He tied a consecutive pass streak with 15, and broke the NFL record for completion percentage at 92.3. Warner looked more poised in the pocket, and found several receivers that he had trouble finding in week one.
Tim Hightower - On the list again this week, Hightower made his mark in the rushing category, as he ran for 72 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown. Hightower was a nice change of pace to Beanie Wells, and looked solid with his pass protection.

Arizona Cardinal of the Week: Week 1
After a frustrating loss to the 49ers yesterday, it's easy to sit and think about what the Cardinals did wrong, but as they say, the show must go on. Week 1 is officially a loss and we can't get that back, but there were some glimpses of hope throughout the game, even with all of the sloppy play. Some of the Cardinals came out to play yesterday, and those are the players that will be nominated for the Cardinal of the week. Here is the list of nominees starting with Kurt Warner:
As always, feel free to nominate anybody you feel should be the Cardinal of the Week in the comments.
Tim Hightower - Hightower virtually went unnoticed on the ground yesterday, but he made his mark at the receiving end. Hightower recorded a career high, 12 catches, as he was consistently Kurt Warner's safety blanket on offense.
Larry Fitzgerald - Fitz showed that even in the worst of games, he will do his best to show up. Out of the 11 times that Warner threw to Fitzgerald, he was only able to catch half, but made one count in the end zone. Most of the missed catches seemed to be more of a bad throw on Warner's part.
Gerald Hayes - I said it before the game and I'll say it again, Gerald Hayes play on Frank Gore was the biggest match up of the game. The defensive schemes in the playoffs had Hayes committing to one job, shadowing the running back. I don't think much has changed as Hayes was a huge force against the running game.

Cardinal of the Week: Preseason Edition
If you're new to the site, then you're probably not familiar with a segment that we rolled out last year. That is ROTB's Cardinal of the Week. You can check out all of last year's COTW awards, including any in the playoffs. As if it's not already self-explanatory, after every Cardinal game, we dish out the nominees for the Cardinal of the week. They can be the players with the best stats, or the game winning plays. It's open everybody if they wish to nominate somebody, and I'll update it as quick as possible. But I always try to nominate the players that would make the most sense. Seeing as it's the preseason, not many stats are going to stand out to anyone, but if you're not an original poster, then this is a good way to break this segment in. So here are the nominees for the COTW: Preseason Week 1 edition:
As always, feel free to nominate somebody that you feel is the Cardinal of the week.
