NFL Power Rankings, Week 17: Arizona Cardinals Finish Around The Middle

It is NFL Week 17 and the final 2011 power rankings are all out. After weeks of making small jumps in most rankings, the Arizona Cardinals lost against the Bengals and have fallen a bit to make their final stop. Nationally and locally, there is not a lot of difference this time. As the team is going to battle for am 8-8 record, it would figure that they would be found near the middle of the pack.

Read on to see where they ended up locally and nationally.

NFL Power Rankings: Saints Cruise Past Falcons, Packers Clinch Home Field For Playoffs

Well folks, this is it. The NFL regular season has come and gone and with that, so have the weekly power rankings. Three divisions have yet to be claimed in the NFL, with the Saints gaining yet another NFC South title after their victory over the Falcons on Monday.

The Christmas Eve games were a load of fun and have set up plenty of interesting story lines heading into the final week of the regular season. Let's take a look at the power rankings for one last time this season. Remember, LW = last week's ranking.

NFL Power Rankings, Week 16: National Media Beginning To Take Notice Of Arizona Cardinals

Photo

After the Arizona Cardinals won their fourth straight game, beating the Cleveland Browns 20-17 in overtime, one would have to figure that the media that does weekly team power rankings would have them moving up. Last week, our own ROTB team rankings gave the team a big jump into the top 10. The rest of the national media, though, still insisted on keeping the team rather low, despite their hot streak.

This week's rankings have the national media giving Arizona a little more love, while the local rankings understandably have them higher.

NFL Power Rankings: Tebow Tumbles, 49ers Win Battle Of The Blackouts

Why didn't they just grab a glow in the dark Nerf ball and keep playing?

Week 15 had more than it's fair share of upsets, with both the only undefeated team losing and the "defeated" team finally winning it's first game. In fact, at least 5 of the 8 early games on Sunday could be considered upsets (go ahead and check, I'll give you a minute). More and more teams continue to get eliminated from postseason eligibility, but there are still plenty in the hunt for the final wild card spots.

This week will be a short one for most teams, with all of the games being played on Saturday (Christmas Eve) sans the Thursday and Sunday night games along with the ESPN Monday Night Football matchup between the Falcons and the Saints. That said, let's see what the power rankings look like headed into week 16. I'll be basing them off of Jess' rankings, as he covered for my absence last week.

NFL Power Rankings, Week 15: Where the Arizona Cardinals Stand

Weekly power rankings can be annoying to a lot of people, but a lot of people read them. Plus, even if we don't like them, we want to see where our own teams are ranked. You would think that after a big win over the San Francisco 49ers the Arizona Cardinals would see a big bump in their ranking, especially considering the fact that the team has won five of six. Unfortunately, aside from the ROTB rankings, it didn't happen.

See where the Cards sit around the web.

NFL Power Rankings, Week 15: Packers Keep On Rolling, Tim Tebow Keeps Doing His Thing

Photo

So it was just another week of the NFL. Tim Tebow leads another improbable comeback and overtime victory (with big assists to Marion Barber and Matt Prater). The Houston Texans keep winning, even though every single NFL player on their team has been lost for the season (overstatement). Don't forget the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers and his discount double check commercials (some say that is the only loss he will suffer all season). They keep rolling along like the NFL is theirs and everyone else is just in the way unfortunately.

But it is time to rank the 32 teams in the league from top to bottom. You will find that at the top and the bottom there is not a lot of movement. Remember, LW means the ranking from last week. And as always, give your thoughts in the comments. That's what they are there for. (You will notice the difference in author today -- Tyler needed the night off because of real world responsibilities. Curse the real world.)

NFL Power Rankings: Arizona Cardinals Make Big Jump After Win Over Dallas Cowboys

It is the time of the week for everybody'd power rankings to see what teams are hot and which teams are not. For most of the season, the Arizona Cardinals have been near the bottom. Now, thanks to four wins in five games, and a recent Week 13 win over the Dallas Cowboys, they are moving up the list. Check out where the local and national media put the Cardinals this week.

NFL Power Rankings: Cardinals Win Overtime Thriller, Chargers Bounce Back

It's about time I put Tim Tebow's picture with one of my posts.

In week 13, we saw two NFC teams clinch their respective divisions, while other teams -- namely the Raiders and the Cowboys -- gave their opponents the chance to get back in the race. The wild card races, too, are becoming less and less of a certain thing. The Bears and Falcons both lost their quite winnable games, putting the extra playoff spots up for grabs.

Let's take a look at the power rankings moving into week 14. Remember, LW = last week's ranking.
