Once more, a newcomer to RotB's Pick'em League takes the Week Won Points with correctly picking seven of the eight games.  Congratulations, blank_38.  Many of you did well this week though some did not, registering only two correct predictions for the first time this season.  You know who you are.  ::cue game show wrong answer music - wonk, wonk, wonk::  Still, Pick'em is a marathon, not a sprint and how well you do over at least nine weeks is what really matters.

The title should speak for itself but if you must know, nine of our very own members didn't make the cut over the weekend. That can largely be blamed on the terrible effort by the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets. Yours truly felt the wrath of the Raiders upset, and now will find the darkest corner of my closet to go and sob. In other news, that leaves eight survivors on the list. If there was ever a time to join, now would be it. Much of the survivors have used up the "good" teams, and it only gets harder from here on out. Just as a recap, you can still join to the survivor league. The rules are easy - You pick one team each week to win, and you can't pick that same team again. If that team loses or you skip a week, you are eliminated. Whoever builds the longest streak will win Cardinals merchandise. Let's take a look at the damage.

I know it's late guys, and hopefully everyone gets a chance to see the post. I'll re-post this everyday until Sunday. I've had a busy week and haven't been at work all week. I'm posting this from home so I don't know everyone's past picks and won't be able to post them for everyone to see. This week I'll post the links from the past five weeks so you can see your picks, and starting next week I'll have them in the table to make things easier. This week, we didn't see many surprises, other then the browns pick by Chg91. Most of us played it safe with the New York Giants or Philadelphia Eagles. Not many were eliminated either, other then Red Reign and Boogatt66, sorry guys, can't miss any weeks.

"He chose....poorly..." would be the theme of Week 5 in the RotB Pick'em League.  The Bengals roaring back against the Ravens put most on the "Wrong" ledger, along with the punt-spectacular Browns victory in Buffalo.  Throw in the Broncos poopy-diaper uniforms and the Orange Crush in Miami, and many of us were wishing to have used the Elmer Fudd Tactic.  A record eight participants finished 3-5 on the week, so if you saw five correct picks, count yourself lucky.  Congratulations to b0rdrline and card-deville who finished 6-2 and share the Weeks Won Point evenly (0.5).  Those who are still above the 70% correct threshold appear first, the rest of us after the jump along with the games for Week 6.

We are now officially a quarter(roughly) of the way through the season, and the pile remains split. Nobody was eliminated last week, but like manphibian pointed out, a lot of people were probably sweating out the Browns/Bengals game. I have to say that the best strategy at this point is to pick whoever's playing the Rams, Chiefs, or Browns. This also marks a point in the survival pick'em season when the good teams start getting weeded out of the mix. It makes for a challenging pick, but it is also more interesting. The table is getting expansive as various tie-breakers sift out the standings with a new player to the Pick'em League at its acme.  Those with a winning percentage above 70% are in the first table; the rest are found on the subsequent table after the jump.  In addition to RottPhiler, seven other participants posted 7-1 records in Week 4 and earned 0.12 Week Won Points.  Congratulations RottPhiler et. al.

It wouldn't be a RotB Pick'em League unless the Rules Lawyer made an appearance at least once.  As some have noticed and commented, there is a "loop hole" in the rules that allows a participant to pick some games but withhold the the MNF game pick until after seeing the results from their first seven picks.  If their record is good and the MNF match-up "obvious", then a MNF pick is made and the week "counts".  If their record is poor and/or the MNF game doesn't have a heavy favourite, the game isn't picked and the whole week's results are "thrown out".  This is the "Elmer Fudd Tactic" as Drullin'OverDaCards insinuated via metaphor.  As we can all recall from our Looney Tune youth, Bugs Bunny always outwitted Elmer and thus the Rules Lawyers have a new decree:

Any week that has a Thursday game as one of the eight selected games, the entire week's selected games must be picked before the Thursday game kick-off.

So Elmer Fudd is welcome to go "huntin' for wabbits" Week 2 through 9, but the remainder of the schedule it's pick'em or skip'em.  My stalling tactic to see who Red Reign picks minutes before the Sunday AM games is no longer valid either.  Bummer.  So not only do Thursday games mess with your fantasy football line-up, they force your hand prematurely at Pick'em.  Geez, you are a dick "Hawk".

Once more dramatic finishes to the selected games of Week 3 brought about changes in the Pick'em League standings.  Those that picked the Niners nearly gained some ground while the "upset" pick of Detroit was a big favourite among most participants.  Congratulations to Bezekira, CARDSxFAN32, Hibernian, StuckinColorado, and TBru for going 7-1, a record that helps put Bezekira at the top of the standings.

Week 4 sees the Cardinals with a bye so picking against the Cards won't gain some of you points as it did in Week 3.  See the Week 4 selected games and make your picks after the jump.

With week three of ROTB's survival pick'em league now over, seven more body bags are added to the pile. Nearly half of ROTB's readers have already been eliminated after three weeks. Too many daring picks you ask? Maybe. Maybe everyone will learn to not pick the Texans anymore. Remember if you haven't joined, it's not too late. You can still start making your selections if you haven't been eliminated yet. Cardinal-related merchandise is on the line.

 If you're new to the site or have recently just noticed this segment, it's a Survival pick'em league. You pick a team each week to win, but you only pick one, and you can't pick that team again for the season. If that team loses when you pick them, you are dead. Whoever lasts the longest wins.
