Cardinals News Round Up

Here's your daily dose of all things Arizona Cardinals:

title= Sporting News projects the Cardinals to select running back Ray Rice of Rutgers in the first round (13th overall) of the '08 draft. As Edge continues to age, it would be wise for the team to add some youth. What sticks out most about Rice is his explosiveness and quickness, something that the team could really use at running back. For all Edge's abilities, he's not the fastest runner in the league and he's failed to make a lot of big plays this season.

title= The Cadinals are going to use any means necessary to keep Karlos Dansby on the roster. But if they can't lock him up with a contract (they're reportedly "not very close"), they'll resort to applying the franchise tag, forcing Dansby to stay while paying him the average salary of the top five linebackers in the NFL ($7.2 million last season). It definitely makes sense considering the success Dansby is having this season.

title= Larry Fitzgerald has been named MVP ... in the annual awards given out by the Arizona chapter of the Pro Football Writers Association. Fitzerald was selected to his second Pro Bowl this season. The other winner: linebacker Calvin Pace won an award for dealing the media exceptionally well.
