With the fifth week of the 2009 NFL Preseason in the books — wait, that was the regular season finale? Could have fooled me. Ahem, with the seventeenth and final week of the 2009 NFL Regular Season in the books the 2009 RotB Pick'me League comes to a close. It has been an interesting and enjoyable season tabulating, tracking, rules lawyering, and posting the results of the season. Thank you all 40+ participants over the season and a huge "thank you" to the 21 that held on until the very end. It's wild to think I posted the first week's results from a hotel in Truckee, CA and these final results from my "igloo" in Massachusetts. What a wild, strange ride it has been.
It's no coincidence that the two participants that each correctly picked 14 of the 16 games top the overall standings and the "Picked Every Week" list. Bezekira and hevchv share the Week Won Point and the glory of coming out on top after each fluctuated in the standings. Congratulations guys! Big kudos to hevchv for having strong picks week after week, even submitting them in via mobile phone a few times (once I had to check the kick-off time to make sure it wasn't late!).
Pick'em was certainly interesting this year with the various tactics everyone chose to use. SenSurround's minimalist approach (nine weeks picked) earned a high ranking. CARDSxFAN32 and card-deville rode their strong percentages late in the season to finish second and third overall. The Elmer Fudd Tactic kept Drullin'OverDaCards at/near the top through the heart of the season. In the end, consistently strong picks throughout the year held up while picking the underdogs regularly led to a dog of a year.
Regardless of how you finished, I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. RotB Pick'em will be back next year for another Preseason and Regular Season run with a special Mock Draft Pick'em for all our draft "experts".
