Today, the Bird Droppings article has a title change in honor of Brent Musburger forgetting that the Cardinals haven't been known as the Phoenix Cardinals since the 1994 Season back when I was three years old.

There is also a little story from Dan Bickley showing his guy love for Cam Newton, a guy who I don't think will really be any better than Tarvaris Jackson in the NFL.

Cardinals may miss out on Steelers assistant Butler
Coach Ken Whisenhunt would like to interview Pittsburgh Steelers assistant Keith Butler for the Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator's job, but Whisenhunt might not get that chance if the Steelers advance far into the playoffs.

NFL.com news: Austin emerges as candidate for Cards' D-coordinator position
The Arizona Cardinals are expected to approach Teryl Austin about their defensive coordinator position, league sources said Monday.

NFC West draft position and QB searches - NFC West Blog - ESPN
Clinching the NFC West title and winning a playoff game has dropped the Seattle Seahawks from eighth to 25th in the 2011 NFL draft order. The slide will continue with every additional Seattle victory. Beating St. Louis and New Orleans over the last two weeks has not filled draft needs, of course. Seattle still needs to identify its long-term quarterback. With that in mind, I've put together two charts showing quarterbacks drafted around where Seattle could have and currently would select.

Arizona Cardinals: Why Cards Should Sign Nnamdi Asomugha, But Probably Won't | Bleacher Report
Nnamdi Asomugha is one of the elite cornerbacks in the league. He is also the NFL's hottest new property in free agency.

Process Underway For New Coordinator
The process to find a new defensive coordinator is underway for coach Ken Whisenhunt, although at this point, the coach still would not put a timetable on the hire.

This sounds familiar
So there were — understandably — big questions about the Seahawks taking their 7-9 record despite an NFC West title and winning anything. Every single one of their nine losses were by at least 15 points, for heavens sake! Then they knocked off the Saints. And suddenly, you look at the NFC playoff landscape and think, "Have I seen this before?"

Auburn edges Oregon for BCS title
This was supposed to be Cam Newton's party. A possible send off to professional football. Instead, true freshman Michael Dyer stole the show, producing two big plays in the final two minutes, setting up Wes Byrum's 19-yard-field goal in Auburn's thrilling 22-19 win over Oregon in Monday's BCS National Championship Game at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Cam Newton impressive in Auburn Tigers' BCS Championship win
Cam Newton wears No. 2. He's half of that, and then some. The Auburn quarterback closed out a brilliant, controversial season with a Heisman Trophy, a national championship and his index finger aloft. He is No. 1. And after a 22-19 victory over Oregon before a record crowd at the University of Phoenix Stadium, only one questioned remained: Was this the end of his college career?

Sources: Ron Rivera agrees to be Carolina Panthers' coach - ESPN
Former San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera has agreed to become the Carolina Panthers' next head coach, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Mike Pereira: Time to change the tuck rule | ProFootballTalk
For a decade as the NFL’s head of officiating, Mike Pereira was the man who had to come forward publicly and defend the infamous tuck rule — and the referees who applied it under controversial circumstances. But now Pereira works for FOX, not the NFL, and he says that the league needs to ditch the tuck rule.
