We are officially at the point in which the NFL adds another day of the week to the NFL game calendar. This means fantasy owners have to be ready a little earlier and those making picks against the spread in Vegas need to think about one game at least before all the others. While the rest of our picks against the spread will come on Friday, since the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders are playing Thursday night, we must get this pick in for everyone.
Last week, our picks looked great for the morning games. We were 5-2 against the spread, getting beat by the Cowboys who couldn't quite cover the 11.5 points they gave up. The other game was probably a loss to everyone -- the Miami Dolphins victory. The rest of the schedule killed us. We ended up 7-7 on the week.
Hit the jump for our Thursday night pick. We are using the spread on our Yahoo Pick'em group. You can join here (ID: 55411, PW: arizona).
Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers (-7.0): Oakland is fresh off of a loss to Tim Tebow, who got to play the option-style offense he played at Florida. The Raiders weren't ready. San Diego matched the Green Bay Packers pretty much punch for punch, but couldn't cover. Darren McFadden will not be playing for the Raiders, but Malcolm Floyd will be out for the Chargers. Look for Philip Rivers and company to continue their roll from Sunday and put points on the board. Carson Palmer will look a little better for Oakland, but will still turn the ball over. Pick: Chargers, -7.0.
Watch out for our Sunday morning picks and then the rest of the schedule on Friday.
