Arizona Cardinals Roster Moves: Dan Williams To IR, Ronald Talley Promoted, 2 Practice Squad Signees

The Arizona Cardinals made some necessary roster moves to accommodate the broken left arm that starting defensive tackle Dan Williams suffered in the fourth quarter of the 23-7 the Cardinals suffered to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. As Williams' injury will end his season, he was placed on injured reserve. This frees up a roster spot for somebody who can play.

To replace Williams on the roster, defensive lineman Ronald Talley was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. He was previously on the active roster and inactive for fives games. He will wear number 96.

These were not the only roster moves made.

The Cardinals made three moves to the practice squad in addition to promoting Talley. They also released TE Steve Skelton, who was signed just a week ago. That left two spots open.

To fill them, they brought back undrafted rookie defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin. Lumpkin was on the practice squad for the first seven weeks of the season.

The Cardinals also signed linebacker Brandon Williams to the practice squad. He played six games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2010 and was on injured reserve for his rookie season in 2009. He was the Cowboys' fourth-round selection in the 2009 draft.

As for playing time, Talley probably won't see the field. Rookie David Carter will replace Williams in the starting lineup and Nick Eason will see time at the position as well.
