With the win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, there were a couple of players that are up for fan voting and one that got an award for the second time this season. Both Patrick Peterson and Beanie Wells are nominated for awards that fans decide with their vote, and Peterson was recognized with the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
For Peterson, it is the second time this season that he was named Special Teams Player of the Week. In team history, he is the only non-kicker to earn the award twice as a Cardinal. Neil Rackers, Chris Jacke and Bill Grammatica were those Cardinals kickers to have won the award more than once.
Oddly enough, both times that Peterson has won this award, it was for what he did playing against the Rams.
Peterson, with four punt return touchdowns, has returned all of them for at least 80 yards. The four TD returns ties an NFL record, but he is the only one to do so every time for at least 80 yards.
Peterson is up for another award for fans to vote on, along with Beanie Wells.
Peterson is up for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award. Fans can vote for him until Friday morning at 10AM Arizona time. It is our duty as Cardinals fans to do so. Vote here for Patrick. He is up against Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Roy Helu and J.J. Watt.
Wells is up for the Fedex NFL Ground Player of the Week. Wells ran for 228 yards and a touchdown. The 228 yards set a franchise record and he broke off runs of 71 and 53 yards, the two longest of his career. He is up against Chirs Johnson and Cedric Benson. Let's go vote for him.
