Yesterday in the first day of the mock draft we have for the community and the writers' mock draft, Marcell Dareus was selected first overall by the community and Nick Fairley was drafted by the writer GM. The overwhelming sentiment from readers was that Dareus was the better pick.
Now we reveal the selections for the Denver Broncos. Azcardswinez was the community GM and JoeCB1991 was the writer GM. Who will go to the Broncos? The picks are after the jump.
In the meantime, the Buffalo Bills are now on the clock. J Steezy and RedBirdRevival, you are up. Email me your picks and explanations by 11PM AZ time tonight. Note that the community member cannot draft a player previously drafted by the community and the same for the writers, but you cannot draft a player drafted by a previous writer.
Leave comments about what you think of the picks and why. Whom would you have selected? Good picks or bad picks?
Azcardswinez
Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
With most of Denver's needs being in the trenches of both sides of the football and not having a legitimate offensive lineman to snag up at number two, the Broncos reach for the D-line. With Marcell Dareus out of the picture here, the Denver Broncos still have a lot of options to improve their defense. Patrick Peterson would be a great player to draft here and bring up behind Champ Bailey while he mentors and tutors the rookie, but I still think the number two pick is a reach for a CB, even the extremely talented Peterson. Nick Fairley is a beast for an interior Defensive lineman and would be a solid pick as well but I got the Denver Broncos selecting Da'Quan Bowers, the 6-4 280 pound DE out of Clemson. With Jon Fox being the coach in Denver, he goes after a pass rushing beast in Bowers who resembles Julius Peppers in providing pressure off the edge. With Elvis Dummerville coming back and the number two pick of Da'Quan Bowers, the Denver Broncos drastically improve their defensive front seven in 2011.

Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
The Broncos could go many ways in the draft, mainly regarding their defense. They ranked 25th against the pass giving up 236 yards per game, they also gave up 26 touchdowns while only picking off seven passes. Opposing Quarterbacks also averaged 7.8 yards per pass attempt against them which was third in the NFL, only behind the Texans and the Jaguars who gave up 8.2 and 8.3 yards per attempt. They also ranked 31st in run defense giving up 154 yards per game at 4.7 yards per carry, along with 26 more Touchdowns. As a whole, they gave up 390 yards per game, the worst in the NFL.
There are so many holes on their defense, that I just decided to go with the best defensive player who is available, and that is Patrick Peterson out of LSU. Marcell Dareus and Da'Quan Bowers were also considered for this pick. I also decided to go with Peterson because Champ Bailey is 32 years old, and even though he just signed a four-year extension I don't think he has many good years left in him, he can also help Peterson learn how to play cornerback in the NFL. Peterson should step in immediately for Denver in their secondary and returning kicks, then with the depth in the Defensive Line for this years draft the Broncos could still address that need with one of their two second round draft picks.
