2011 ROTB NFL Mock Draft: The Arizona Cardinals Make Pick, Cleveland Browns On The Clock

Today's picks are the ones that matter most for us. In the end, it is the Cardinals we care about. We cared about the first four picks inasmuch as they do not pick a guy we want on the team. In the community projections, both Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton are on the board. The writers have only Newton. Fan preferred and seemingly the perfect match for the Cards, Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller is still available.

Whom did Billydacardsfan and Skii select? The picks are after the jump.

In the meantime, the Browns are now on the clock. B0rd3rline and RedBirdRevival, you are up. Email me your picks and explanations by 11PM AZ time tonight. Note that the community member cannot draft a player previously drafted by the community and the same for the writers, but you cannot draft a player drafted by a previous writer.

Leave comments about what you think of the picks and why. Whom would you have selected? Good picks or bad picks? Why?

Billydacardsfan:

Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M

With the fifth pick in the 2011 draft the Arizona Cardinals select Von Miller from Texas A&M. Miller has the skill set to become an instant impact player in Defensive Coordinator Ray Horton's aggressive scheme. His raw speed and ball seeking instincts are exactly what the team needs after the disappointing play from our aging OLB's. The only knock on Miller has been that he is a little light for the position. The fact he came in 10 lbs heavier at the combine without losing and of his explosiveness gives me total confidence that he will prove those doubts wrong, especially under the conditioning of John Lott. A front 5 of Von Miller, Calais Campbell, Dan Williams, Darnell Dockett and O'Brien Schofield has the potential to be one of the most exciting in the game.

Skii:

The fan favorite of most Cardinals fans, drafting Von Miller would be fantastic for the Cardinals. The Cardinals desperately need an OLB and pass rusher, and Von Miller fits both of those. Considered one of the best pass rushers and defensive players in the draft, he has a ton of athleticism that would help the Cardinals lacking pressure on opposing QB's. He's also a 3-4 OLB, which fits in perfectly with the Cardinals defensive scheme.

Background: In 2010, he switched to being a 3-4 linebacker. It paid off, earning him First-team All-American honors from Walter Camp, Scout.com, Pro Football Weekly, ESPN.com, and the Associated Press. NFL Network's Mike Mayock has him as the second best player in the Draft.
