Earlier today, I asked everyone what they thought of the picks the ROTB writers have made so far in our mock draft. Ten picks are in and it is now time to give the community a grade for their draft so far. Both Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert are off the board, but they didn't go until the seventh and eighth picks. Marcell Dareus was their number one guy overall. The picks are listed after the jump and my thoughts as well.
1- Carolina Panthers: Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
2- Denver Broncos: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
3- Buffalo Bills: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
4- Cincinnati Bengals: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
5- Arizona Cardinals: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M
6- Cleveland Browns: Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
7- San Francisco 49ers: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
8- Tennessee Titans: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
9- Dallas Cowboys: Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
10- Washington Redskins: Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
Overall, I really like the way the community has gone with the picks. Dareus is a superb selection at the top, although I believe that the Panthers will lean towards either Gabbert or Newton.
The only thing that raises my eyebrows with these 10 picks is how far both QBs fall. None gets picked until the 49ers? I will be shocked if Gabbert even makes it to the Cardinals, let alone fall two picks further. As much as I covet Miller for the Cardinals, it appears more and more that he will be gone before then.
Gabbert is the one that is hard to predict. He could go number one, he could fall out of the top 10. If I had to predict it myself, I would go Gabbert, Peterson, Newton/Miller, Newton/Green, Dareus, Bowers, Amukamara, Fairley, Quinn or Tyron Smith, Jones.
