2011 NFL Mock Draft: Seattle Seahawks Make 25th Pick In First Round

We now approach the final few picks of the ROTB mock draft, and today we reveal the picks by the community and writer GMs as they represent the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle managed to make the playoffs this past year as we know, despite posting a losing record in the regular season. They have a need at QB with Matt Hasselbeck not getting any younger, and they have holes to fill on the offensive and defensive lines.

Picking today as our GMs are CardinalsFB for the community and JoeCB1991 for the writers.

As always, fire up a good debate. Next up are the Baltimore Ravens. Billydacardsfan and CardsFan08 need to email me your picks and explanations by 11PM AZ time tonight.

CardinalsFB:

Justin Houston, OLB, Georgia

Last year the Seahawks gave up 368.6 YPG (27th) and 47 touchdowns (27th) 31 of which came from the QB. They need help on the D line and at CB and with Jimmy Smith gone I have them going after a pass rusher. Carrol runs a 4-3 but likes to stand up his DE which would work well for Justin Houston. Last year Georgia went to a 3-4 and played Houston as a pass rushing OLB, he had a career high 10 sacks. Houston is strong has long arms is a solid tackler and a proven pass rusher, he would be a great replacement for Balmer who hasn't recorded a single sack in his three year career.

JoeCB1991:

Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State

I can see many ways the Seahawks could go in the Draft because of all their needs. If Jimmy Smith was still available I would consider him due to their need at Corner, you can also look at their defensive and offensive line with some of the players that are still available. I also would not be surprised to see them taking Ryan Mallet, Christian Ponder or Jake Locker with their first pick to have one of them learn behind Matt Hasselbeck if he stays in Seattle next year. After looking at all of the people who are still available, I decided to go with Derek Sherrod who can play Tackle or Guard, and he can help bolster their offensive line.
