2011 NFL Mock Draft: New England Patriots Pick 28th

We now near the close of the ROTB mock draft and the New England Patriots are set to make their second first round selection. This one is the selection hey have based on their 2010 performance. Coming into the draft, they were seen as needing help on the offensive line, in the defensive front seven and in the secondary.

Draft and I made the selections as GMs. Add your thoughts to the picks that have been made.

Tomorrow, the Chicago Bears are up and KDean75 and JoeCB1991 will be the respective GMs. Email me by 11PM with your selections.

Draft:

Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State

With the 28th pick in the 2011 NFL draft the New England Patriots select Cameron Heyward from Ohio State. The Patriots were lacking talent in th front seven, so I chose a great two gap player with untapped potential. I could have gone with an Olb or a guard but I feel with the players still available the Pats can get good value in the second or third. Then again Coach Belichick could throw everyone for a loop and take a receiver, but he'll probably just trade the pick.

Me:

Ben Ijalana, OT/OG, Villanova

The Patriots, having already bolstered the defensive front seven, now look to add to their offensive line. In selecting Ijalana, they have a bit of a raw player, but at 6-4, 320 lbs with great movement and strength, they can afford to teach him what he needs to know. He has great potential and with the NE coaching staff, he will have just the opportunity to blossom into a dominant force for years to come.
