2011 NFL Mock Draft: New York Jets Make 30th Selection

The ROTB NFL mock draft is almost complete. After today, only the Steelers and Packers remain. The Jets, despite two years of very good play and reaching the AFC Championship game, they seek to improve their team. Coach Rex Ryan is already talking about next year's Super Bowl.

In any case, the selections are after the jump. SportsCaveTV picked for the community and I did so for the writers.

Next up are the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will be represented by Steamin' Beamin' and RedBirdRevivalEmail me by 11PM with your selections.

SportsCaveTV:

Rahim Moore, S, UCLA

Once again the Patriots and Bill Belichick become a thorn in the side for the Jets as they drafted Ohio State DE Cameron Heyward. This could be a blessing in disguise, though, as another big need for the Jets is a safety and with Rahim Moore, the top safety in the draft, still available, the Jets will fill that need by drafting the UCLA star. Moore is a little undersized, but with his strong tackling skills and hard work ethic he will fit Coach Ryan's system and make the defense even stronger.

Me:

Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA

As odd as it seems, the Jets' defense, which is considered its strength, has a few holes. With this pick, it is all about the pass rush. Ayers may have slipped in draft status because he did not wow at the combine, but his production at UCLA is undeniable. The Jets will gladly take him and let him get after opposing quarterbacks like Tom Brady
