2011 NFL Mock Draft: Pittsburgh Steelers Make 31st Selection

The Pittsburgh Steelers now are up to reveal their selections in the 2011 ROTB mock drafts. Their Super Bowl berth lets us know that they were very successful. However, they do have needs on both sides of the ball. Most notably, their greatest need is at cornerback. They need an upgrade over Bryant McFadden.

RedBirdRevival picks on behalf of the writers and once again I pick for the community, as I did not get a pick sent to me. Feel free to give your thoughts on the picks.

Next up, to conclude our mock draft, are the Green Bay Packers. Strohman is up for the community and Cardsfan08 is due for the writers. Email me by 11PM with your selections.

Me (for the community):

Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin

I did not make the same mistake twice. Texas cornerback Aaron Williams might be the most logical choice here, considering their need at corner, but when Carimi unexpectedly falls all the way to the end of the first round, they simply cannot let him go away. His size and tenacity of blocking will go nicely with the Pittsburgh way of doing things -- run the football and have great defense. Carimi, although he may not be projected as a left tackle, will certainly enjoy run blocking. The power running game of Wisconsin he was used to playing in college will translate well to the pros in this system. Mike Tomlin will be a very happen man knowing who he is getting.

RedBirdRevival:

Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois

The Steelers are notoriously known for their strong run defense, but with injury and age attacking the players on the D-line, it is time to start looking for a replacement. That is why I am going with Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois. Liuget, a 298 pounder, will easily be able to anchor that strong defensive line with his ability to read the game well and his disruptiveness. Considered to be the third best DT in the draft by many, I was surprised Liuget was able to fall this far, but I am more than happy to select him for the Steelers.
