The Arizona Cardinals have had their share of busts and successes in the NFL Draft. They have come at different positions, different coaches and different years. But who are exactly the worst picks and the best picks the Cardinals have made? I'm only going to go back to 1990 because, to be perfectly honest, I didn't really know anything about the Cardinals because my parents didn't pay attention to sports. The first year I even recollect was Gary Hogeboom starting for the team. Then I remember Timm Rosenbach's debut.
From today all the way until the draft, we will feature the 10 biggest busts that the Cardinals have had and then the 10 biggest successes since 1990. Today, it is the Cardinals' 10th worst bust in the draft.
Before revealing number 10, here is the honorable mention.
Tony Sacca, QB, 1992 2nd rd, pick 36
Sacca was a heralded QB prospect coming out of Penn State. The Cardinals drafted him with their first pick (they did not have a first rounder that year. After drafting him, there were red flags in his first training camp, when he complained about how the pro ball was bigger and that he had to adjust.
He played in two games in the NFL, both for the Cards in 1992. In 11 passing attempts, he completed four and threw two picks. But he didn't even make the top 10. The 10th biggest bust since 1990 was...
Cody Brown, LB, 2009 2nd rd, pick 63
Brown was heralded to be the pass rushing specialist that would alleviate the team's need to rely on veterans like Bertrand Berry, Clark Haggans and Chike Okeafor. He had a wrist injury that sidelined him for his entire rookie campaign. But that wasn't the bust part. That came when he could not even make the team coming out of camp this season. He now is on the New York Jets roster and has yet to log any statistic.
Tomorrow we bring you the ninth worst bust for the Cards since 1990.
