2011 ROTB Mock Draft: Chargers To Bolster Line

We continue on in the mock draft to project the pick for the San Diego Chargers, who will be seeking to retake their AFC West crown after conceding it in 2010 to the Kansas City Chiefs. There was no real reason for that fall, considering their offensive and defensive ranks.

Today's picks are both tackles -- one on the offensive and one on the defensive side. The community pick did not make it in, so I chose for them, while Cardsfan08 was the writer GM.

The New York Giants are now on the clock. Cardinalbrown and RedBirdRevival are the GMs. Email me your picks and explanations by 11PM AZ time tonight. You know the rules -- no trades, no drafting guys that have been drafted.

Remember that what makes this even better is healthy debate. Put in your two cents.

Me:

Nate Solder, OT, Colorado

Just when you thought that Phillip Rivers was not dangerous enough, San Diego goes and drafts a physical specimen at 6-8. 319 lbs to help protect him. With the labor situation, there is some uncertainty as to whether Jeromey Clary re-signs with the team. Solder will either create depth (whether he starts this year or not) or will fill a hole. Solder has the versatility to be able to move around on the line if needed. Look out, AFC West.

Cardsfan08:

Muhammed Wilkerson, DT, Temple

San Diego's number one rated defense will need a versatile, aggressive player and they've found it in Wilkerson. He has ideal size and has no problem pushing the pocket and getting into the backfield. He's also very strong and plays the run well. His large frame 6' 4" and 315 lbs will allow force offensive lineman to account for him, and his strength will bring double teams. The Chargers had a poor performance from their defensive ends in 2010, so he'll see time in a rotation early and could be starting if he can live up to his first round draft status.
