A Possible QB Armageddon: What If Cardinals Strike Out On Kolb, Orton, Bulger

All the quarterback talk seems to have it being a foregone conclusion that the Arizona Cardinals will acquire quarterback Kevin Kolb from the Philadelphia Eagles via trade. With that being said, there has been much discussion about how Kyle Orton or Marc Bulger are the other targets the Cardinals have.

But has anyone thought about the nightmare scenario that has the Cardinals missing out on all three of these guys? It honestly scares me a bit and I am unsure which way I would like the Cards to go if that were to actually happen. Orton could not be traded at all, the Eagles could either set a price tag that is too high or they trade Kolb out from under the Cards and Bulger just might not want to come here.

What scares me is that I'm not sure what would be the best option. We could go with John Skelton or Derek Anderson again. I would like to not here that the team did not release Anderson when it could have done. It looks like they are holding on to him just in case the offseason gets ugly in trades and free agency.

We could also hope to take a chance on a quarterback that is expected to be released by their current team. That would be guys like Vince Young and Donovan McNabb. These two guys, even if available, don't seem to be on the team's radar. We have heard numerous times that the Cards did not even make a phone call when McNabb was publicly known as available.

If we are to believe Darren Urban, who covers the team, Young would not be a guy they bring in, due to the mental questions there are about him and his psyche.

Matt Hasselbeck and Alex Smith are free agent to be QBs that are expected to return to their former teams, so those guys don't look to be available,

Carson Palmer wants out of Cincinnati, but his boss is not going to trade him.

After that, look at the list of quarterbacks that are available via free agency

Peyton Manning and Brett Favre are there, but Manning won't leave Indy and Favre is done (for reals this time).

After them, you have Seneca Wallace, Matt Moore, Matt Leinart, Todd Collins, the famous Caleb Hanie, Brady Quinn, Drew Stanton, Trent Edwards, Luke McCown and many more that are underwhelming as potential starting quarterback.

So what would you do? If plans A, B and C are all gone, whom would Ken Whisenhunt and the team place their focus on? If this scenario happens, do they even target anyone? I just don't know. Time for your thoughts!
