Who Would You Rather Keep: Steve Breaston Or Andre Roberts

With the news seemingly grinding to a halt, I sit wondering what to write. With no real offseason yet because of the NFL lockout, we are left to wonder at what point does the news all dry up. I decided to pose a question to the community based on what could happen once the lockout is over and the Cardinals have to start dealing with their roster.

As wide receiver Steve Breaston is currently without a contract and there was apparently no movement to re-sign him before the lockout began. There seems to be some concern in the organization for his long term health. Breaston's knee surgery and time off, combined with the uncertainty of what it will cost to keep him, leave us in a quandary.

Do we want him back, knowing what he is able to contribute, or do we want to move on, wishing him the best career?

At the end of last season, especially in the Cowboys game on Christmas Day, Andre Roberts was getting Breaston's snaps on offense. He struggled in training camp and there was even talk that he might make the team. He didn't look like he could catch really anything.

He made strides throughout the season and ended up with 24 receptions and a couple of TDs.

Roberts, compared to Breaston, is a little shorter but a little bigger. He stands at 5-11, 195 lbs. Breaston is 6-0, 189.

Roberts has some speed. At the NFL combine, he ran a 4.46 40-yard dash. Breaston also has speed. He and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are considered the fastest players on the team. Back when he was preparing for the draft, Breaston ran the 40 in 4.41 seconds at the NFL combine.

Both were drafted for their return skills. Breaston has far exceeded any expectations the public had for him. Breaston is 27 years old and Roberts in 23.

So now the question is yours. If you had to pick one, would you go with Breaston moving forward or Roberts, hoping he develops into the number two receiver on the team.

Personally, having already seen what Breaston can do, I'd go with him. Roberts came on strong at the end of the season, but he looked terrible before the season. Breaston plays hard and makes other plays. I don't know taht about Roberts.

Keeping both would be great, but it might not happen. If you had to pick one over the other who would it be? Fire away in the comments and explain whom you would go with if you could only have one.
