Back during Week 15 of the 2010 NFL season, a video was shown on YouTube where at some point during the season running backs Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells ran a footrace that Hightower narrowly won. This prompted me to wonder how other Cardinals players, particularly the fastest ones, would do if racing head-to-head.
Just a couple of days ago, one of those speedy players, receiver Steve Breaston, tweeted out to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, stating "I'm ready (dusting off my cleats)," seemingly implying it is time to race. I propose that it be more than just the two of them, so we can find out who really is the fastest Cardinals player.
I propose that Breaston and DRC include two other speedsters -- LaRod Stephens-Howling and Patrick Peterson. If we look back at their speed history, DRC had the best 40 time coming into the NFL draft, posting a 4.29 second time at the NFL combine. Breaston posted a 4.41 at his, Stephens-Howling a 4.41 as well and the newest one of the four, Peterson, ran a blazing 4.34 second 40.
Now both DRC and Breaston have had knee injuries, Breaston's being the most recent, but he says that it is 100 percent again.
Who do you think would win? All four have exceptional speed. Based on that 40 time, the edge has to go to DRC, but I would put my money on the youngster Patrick Peterson. He is younger and has trained most recently for sprints, having just left the NFL combine a few months ago.
I might be wrong, as any of these four players could pull off a win. I think it needs to happen and Breaston needs to make it one of his famous YouTube videos.
You tell me -- who do you think would win?
