6-6-11: Bird Droppings - More On Anderson's Rant

Getty Images

Getting this up a little bit earlier than I normally do today because I am a big video game nerd and I want to watch some of the E3 stuff today and during the rest of this week on TV. For today, this is a shorter batch of links with an opinion piece on Anderson's rant, and another post about how Orton could come to Arizona.

Also, quick programming note. I'm going to introduce a new weekly thing for this site later today, it is something we have talked about before on here and you guys will probably enjoy it.

Cardinals News:

Will Orton be in the mix for Cards post-lockout? | National Football Post
We can all agree that the Cardinals need to make a play for a QB (either through free agency or trade) once the NFL lockout is lifted. The young names that the Arizona has at the position may make sense from a developmental standpoint, but this club needs a veteran to win in 2011.

Derek Anderson is as bad on Twitter as he was under center - ArizonaSports.com
Some fights -- like any of them that have taken place in heavyweight boxing over the last decade -- aren't worth having at all. That's a lesson Arizona Cardinals quarterback -- can't wait for that to be prefixed with ex -- Derek Anderson has yet to learn.

Arizona Sports News:

Arizona Diamondbacks rally to tie in 9th but lose in 11 to Washington Nationals
Resiliency likely will be the word that eventually defines the Diamondbacks season. Even when they come up short, which they did Sunday, the Diamondbacks frequently play their best when all seems lost, a trait that could play a key role as the season moves along. The Diamondbacks staged a ninth-inning rally before a close call at first base kept a Nationals surge going in the 11th inning, losing 9-4 in front of 23,129 at Chase Field. The loss dropped them a half-game behind the San Francisco Giants in the National League West.

ASU baseball rips Arkansas to advance to NCAA Super Regionals
Joey DeMichele missed out on Pac-10 Player of the Year. But the Arizona State sophomore designated hitter again proved his exceptional value Sunday night with a two-run homer in the first inning of a 13-4 NCAA regional title-clinching blowout over Arkansas.

ASU softball shuts out Baylor to reach Women's College World Series championship series
Mandy Urfer was a nervous wreck here four years ago. Now she is a cool cat with a chance to play for another title. Urfer hit a two-run home run to catapult Arizona State to a 4-0 win over Baylor on Sunday at the Women's College World Series. Now Urfer and the Sun Devils will play for a chance to win their second national title in the past four years. ASU won the 2008 championship.

Arizona Wildcats beat Texas A&M to force deciding game
Second-seeded Arizona has forced a deciding game in the College Station regional following its 7-4 victory over top-seeded Texas A&M on Sunday night.

Coaches who disavow NFLCA brief could have locker-room issues | ProFootballTalk
With coaching staffs from 15 teams and counting making known their disagreement with the "friend of the court" brief filed last month by the NFL Coaches Association, the next wave in the development of this story arises from the players’ reaction to the news that their coaches are picking a side other than the players’ side.
