Our series of examining free agent offensive lineman is now complete. Most recently, we looked at interior lineman, namely players at the guard position. In a set of posts that were based off of a CBS top 50 free agents list, we looked at three different guards: Davin Joseph, Justin Blalock and Harvey Dahl.
All three of these players played in the NFC South last season, but there could be a chance that all leave that division with their sights set on a big payday. So my question to you is, which of these players would look best donning Cardinal Red?
It has been well documented that the Arizona Cardinals only have Levi Brown as a starting offensive lineman under contract for next season. Brandon Keith is a restricted free agent and is likely to re-sign with the team. Lyle Sendlein is a favorite of the coaching staff and will likely re-up with the Cardinals as well.
After those three players, there is a lot of uncertainty. Deuce Lutui has shown some unhapiness over his contract situation during his time in Arizona and former perennial Pro Bowler Alan Faneca announced that he was retiring earlier this summer. Rex Hadnot could take over for Faneca, but if Lutui decides to take his talents elsewhere, could one of the three previously mentioned players be coming to Glendale?
So now it is time to vote. If none of these players are re-signed to their current teams, which one would be the best fit for the Cardinals in your opinion? My personal favorite is Justin Blalock due to his age and all-around effectiveness in both pass and run blocking. However, any of these athletes would provide a drastic upgrade to the makeshift Arizona Cardinals offensive line.
Tomorrow, barring the ratification of a new CBA, we will begin a series on free agent outside linebackers. I would really rather tell you about guys that WILL be coming to Arizona as opposed to guys that COULD be coming. Get this nonsense lockout over with.
