On the heals of losing Steve Breaston, many might think that the Arizona Cardinals need to sign a wide receiver. With a few in the free agent market, it is a viable possibility. In fact, there was one rumor that had the Cardinals being interested in Braylon Edwards, previously of the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.
Tim Ring of 3TV tweeted this:
SOURCE: Cardinals talking to wide receiver Braylon Edwards about replacing Steve Breaston.
A name like Edwards is certainly a bit of a splash. However, beat writer Kent Somers responded with this:
I've heard Cardinals have no interest in Braylon Edwards.
The reported interest in Edwards surprised me. I was always under the impression that the willingness to allow Breaston to sign elsewhere was because the team believed that Andre Roberts and Early Doucet can take over the number two and three slots, with Stephen Williams and Max Komar also being in the mix.
Add to that the fact that the Cards drafted DeMarco Sampson, and it appears that there will be no real room for anyone else.
Obviously we cannot rule it out, but I would not count it as something likely to happen.
