Cardinals Reach Deal With First Round Pick Patrick Peterson, Third Round Pick Housler

After a period of time where no news was heard on the rookies and their contracts, we found out that five of the rookies agreed to a deal with the Cardinals on Friday (Sam Acho, Anthony Sherman, Quan Sturdivant, David Carter, and DeMarco Sampson). And now, it has been announced that the Cardinals have reached a deal with first round pick, Cornerback Patrick Peterson along with third round pick Rob Housler.

Details after the jump.

Peterson's contract will be worth 18.5 million dollars over four years with a team option for the fifth year. Details on how much of the money is guaranteed haven't been released yet, but players who were picked near where Peterson went in the draft such as A.J. Green who went to the Bengals one pick earlier wound up with all 19.6 million dollars he received being guaranteed. It is possible that Peterson's contract will be fully guaranteed.

Peterson will fly out to Arizona from Florida on Sunday morning to sign his contract and take his physical. It is possible that this could all be done in time for him to take the field for the first time in Cardinal red on Sunday. The Cardinals need him to make an impact in the Secondary early with the loss of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and they hope that he can make an impact in the return game as well.

The Cardinals also signed 3rd round pick, Tight End Robert Housler to a four year 2.99 million dollar contract earlier in the day. Ryan Williams hasn't been signed yet, but hopefully he will be before the day is over.
