Madden Simulations, Week 2: Arizona Cardinals At Washington Redskins

New, comments

As we enter Week Two of the NFL season it is time for another Madden simulation pitting the Cardinals against their week two opponent, the Washington Redskins.

I did try something different this week, moving from 15 minute quarters to 12 minute quarters to see how it affected the stats and next week I'll probably try out 13 minutes. As with last time, I did this using the Super Sim feature that lets you quickly simulate each game, but takes away the ability to watch the game play itself out.

So, now lets take a look at how week two turns out for the Cardinals.

Game Summary:

There wasn't much action in the first quarter, the Cardinals got on the board first with a 43 yard Field Goal by Jay Feely. In the second quarter Beanie Wells was also able to add on a 28 yard touchdown run to put the Cardinals up 10-0 going into halftime.

In the second half the Redskins made things more interesting with a Touchdown run by Tim Hightower to make it a one possession game with the Skins down 10-7. Kolb and the Cardinals wouldn't have any of that though with Kolb throwing a 70 yard touchdown pass to Andre Roberts.

The Cardinals then finished off their scoring in the fourth quarter with a one yard touchdown pass to Larry Fitzgerald. The Skins also added a touchdown pass from Rex Grossman to Hightower to make the score look more respectable, but in the end the Cardinals got the win 24-14 and improving their record in the Madden Sims to 2-0.

Kolb had a decent game, although 70 of his 212 passing yards did come on the one play to Roberts, it looks like he was settling for short completions a lot. Meanwhile, Grossman was inconsistent in his accuracy but he did put up a good amount of yardage. The Redskins also missed two Field Goals, which if they were converted would make the score 24-20 instead of 24-14. The Redskins actually did outgain the Cardinals by almost 100 yards, but they just made little mistakes such as missed field goals or the Interception thrown by Grossman that cost them the game. Tim Hightower also had a good game against his former team going over 150 total yards and accounting for the only two Touchdowns scored by the Redskins.
