Arizona Cardinals Put CB Butler On IR, Sign DE Ronald Talley From Practice Squad

The Arizona Cardinals had to make a few roster moves to accommodate the injury that CB Crezdon Butler suffered in practice the other day. Butler severely injured his ankle and was placed on injured reserve, ending his season. With the return to health of Michael Adams, the team did not sign a defensive back to replace him. Instead, the Cardinals signed DE Ronald Talley from their practice squad to take Butler's spot.

It might have been a surprise that Talley was promoted to the active roster, especially since Marshay Green, a cornerback is on the practice squad. On azcardinals.com, Darren Urban noted that the return of Adams made the roster crowded with five CBs. Butler was getting special teams reps, but nothing else.

The Cardinals have another CB on the roster they picked up on waivers after final cuts in Korey Lindsey, so there was no real need to promote Green.

Talley was a surprise to make it past final cuts before both Butler and Lindsey were claimed.

It will be interesting to see what role he plays, if in fact he plays at all right away.

Practice squad moves have been made. That is coming in the next post!
