In a report that was broken by Yahoo Sports, there are eight NFL players that could, because of off-the-field behavior during the NFL lockout, be suspended soon. One surprise on the list is Arizona Cardinals OLB Clark Haggans. This list includes players Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib, Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson and Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt.
This list does not indicate that these players will serve a suspension, just that they could.
As far as anyone knows, Haggans was not arrested and has not been connected to any activities that would seem even questionable.
Azcardinals.com writer Darren Urban was "stunned" to see his name on that list. The Yahoo article said this:
It's unclear why Haggans was on the memo. Haggans is not known to have been arrested during the lockout and has no history of problematic behavior. A call to his agent, Jeff Sperbeck, was not immediately returned.
I am sure that more details will be forthcoming with this initial information, but considering the shock there is from more than one source, I am hoping that nothing actually comes up.
We will keep you posted as more information comes out.
