When we last looked at the status of former Chiefs head coach Todd Haley, it appeared unlikely that there was a place for him on the Cardinals’ coaching staff. But that may no longer be the case.

The Cardinals have one vacant spot on the coaching staff that needs to be filled -- QB coach -- and the names that keep popping up for the job are fairly impressive. Word From the Birds Blog - Beanie has surgery, and a coach candidate UPDATE
While Beanie Wells said the day after the season he wasn’t sure he would need surgery to repair his gimpy knee, it seemed more likely than not, and this morning, the running back tweeted out what looked like a surgical announcement: "Time to go under the knife wish me luck !!! azcentral.com blogs - Kent Somers - Pursuing an assistant coach
Most head coaches I've known like to fill staff positions before they head to Mobile, Ala., to scout prospects in the Senior Bowl. That's because the event is a job fair as well as an all-star game. Unemployed coaches attend, hoping to finagle interviews and jobs. Head coaches can be inundated by potential candidates. It's an awkward situation for everyone. So I'm sure Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt has been approached by more than one coach looking for a job. Whisenhunt has one opening on his staff, quarterbacks coach, and is expected to interview some candidates while at the Senior Bowl. Those candidates include former Raiders head coach Hue Jackson. Several news outlets have reported that the Cardinals have also made contact with former Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.

Phoenix Coyotes snap 3-game skid going into All-Star break
The Coyotes' mantra was a recurring one: end this home-ice funk and go into the All-Star break on a winning note. Twice holding two-goal margins, only to see them sliced to one, the Coyotes hung on to defeat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Tuesday night at Jobing.com Arena. The win broke a three-game losing streak and finally got their home record over .500 (10-9-4).

Phoenix Suns winning streak vs. Toronto Raptors snapped
US Airways Center officially has been declared a disaster area. Add the Toronto Raptors to a list of losing teams that includes the New Orleans Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Jersey Nets that have beaten the Suns on their own floor, threatening to leave a season in rubble. The Raptors held off a torrid rally that came too late from the Suns to win 99-96 Tuesday night, dropping the Suns to 6-11 in a shortened season that doesn't leave much time to clean up the mess.
