NFL picks against the spread: Browns, Colts are underdog picks in early games

The early games on Sunday have many closer lines, but there will be two underdogs to cover.

Brian Spurlock-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

After a Thursday night surprise in which the Tennessee Titans not only covered their six-point spread as underdogs, they won straight up at home. The trend we now notice is that you should take the home team in Thursday night games. What about the early Sunday games?

Here are our picks:

Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Cleveland Browns: With the Steelers up for the Bengals in a week, they fall prey to a Browns team at home in a classic trap game. Pick: Browns, +3.

Indianapolis Colts at New York Jets (-3): Indy and Andrew Luck are flying high after an upset of the Green Bay Packers. In another upset pick (is it really an upset to beat the Jets?), expect Indy to build on the win from the previous week. Pick: Colts, +3.

Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4): With Brady Quinn likely the starter due to Matt Cassel's head injury, they will be forced to run the ball more, which is exactly what Tampa defends well. Pick: Bucs, -4.

Oakland Raiders at Atlanta Falcons (-9): Matt Ryan and the Falcons get some home cooking against a mess of a Raiders team. Pick: Falcons, -9.

Dallas Cowboys at Baltimore Ravens (-4): Dallas isn't going to make things better against Joe Flacco. Pick: Ravens, -4.

Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles (-4): Philly's turnover problems find a solution -- the Lions's defense. Pick: Eagles, -4.

St. Louis Rams at Miami Dolphins (-3.5): The Rams struggle on the road and the Dolphins appear to have figured out how to win the close games. Pick: Fins, -3.5.
