Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt confirms Beanie Wells is set to return

Beanie Wells will be activated off of the injured reserve/designated to return list in time for the Cardinals' game against the Rams next Sunday.

After practice on Monday, Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt announced that the team will be getting a key addition back to their team. Beanie Wells will be activated in time to play against the St. Louis Rams this coming Sunday.

He also figures to see some practice time this week. There is no way a player can come back from a multiple week injury and just be thrown into the fire against an NFL team without having some practice time first.

The question we have to ask ourselves is: does this even matter? Before getting injured, Beanie carried the ball 29 times for 76 yards this season. That is good for an average of 2.6 yards per carry. Ugh.

And the offensive line hasn't gotten much better, either. They still fail to open up holes against opposing defensive lines that allow their runners to gain any substantial yardage. Given Beanie's propensity for running the ball up the gut as opposed to LaRod Stephens-Howling's likeness for bouncing it outside the tackles, that figures to remain the same way.

Can Beanie be effective coming off of another injury? Does it depend on him more than the offensive line to make something happen? How will he fare in his first game back on the field?

These are all questions we need to ask ourselves before we get too excited about the return of Beanie Wells.
