We know that the Arizona Cardinals played well defensively on Sunday en route to a 38-10 win over the Detroit Lions. Some of the highlights included three interceptions, two that Greg Toler and Rashad Johnson returned for touchdowns. It was a solid day.
Pro Football Focus took note of the play of two Arizona Cardinals. One was recognition for a great day and the other was for a low grade.
Toler was highlighted in PFF's Team of the Week. They wrote, grading him a +5.3 for the game:
A career day for Toler, who gave up zero receptions on six balls into his coverage. He did, however, break up three balls and intercept another that he returned for a touchdown.
He is an interesting question for the offseason. We have seen how good he can be. He has made huge impacts on a couple of games this season, but has been injured for much of the year. He is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. We will see the interest he has from the team and the rest of the league.
On the not so god side of things, Sam Acho was "recognized" for not doing so well, making the "Had a Bad Day Team."
He was graded a -2.8 for the game and they wrote, saying:
Acho rushed the passer an awful lot, but was held in check by Jeff Backus for most of the game.
Acho has made plays in his two seasons, however a great pass rusher he is not. According to Ray Horton, he is a very good overall linebacker who is brilliant.
Was there any other play of any other player that stood out? Patrick Peterson was given a net negative grade for the game (-1.5).
Ryan Lindley, after two weeks of awful grades, received a slightly positive grade (+1.3), which supports what Ken Whisenhunt said. He improved and didn't do anything other than the interception to hurt the team. It's a start.
