No Arizona Cardinals were voted as NFC starters for the 2013 Pro Bowl

No players from the Cardinals were selected to start, but they may still get in as reserves.

USA TODAY Sports

Well, folks. The fans have voted and it appears that we won't be seeing any Arizona Cardinals starting in the 2013 Pro Bowl. That does not rule out the chance that there are players from Arizona that still attend the game. Fans only make up 1/3 of the vote and the reserves have yet to be decided.

The exclusion of any Cards as starters is highly indicative of how the team has fared this season. After starting 4-0, the team proceeded to lose nine in a row before breaking the streak last Sunday against the Lions. In that time, there were players that had there ups and downs, but there were some that were fairly consistent, such as cornerback Patrick Peterson.

We can't really blame Larry Fitzgerald. The league knows the talent that he has and always will have, but his numbers this season have been down due to the lack of good quarterback play. That might have been different had Kevin Kolb been able to stay healthy, but then again, it might not have. It just seems odd that he did not make it given that the voting is done by the fans.

Other notable players that were passed over include the aforementioned Peterson, Daryl Washington, Calais Campbell, Kerry Rhodes and usual fan favorites Darnell Dockett and Adrian Wilson. Dockett and A-Dub probably don't deserve to make it at all this season, let alone be starters, but I thought their status might carry them into the game.

As for Peterson, Washington, Campbell and Rhodes, you would be hard pressed to find a bunch of players better than them at their respective positions. Peterson has proven to be a shutdown corner and one of the best in the league. Washington leads the league in sacks from the inside linebacker position and has 115 tackles through 14 games played.

Rhodes' performance against the Jets alone probably warranted him a Pro Bowl selection and a starting spot. There really aren't that many safeties better than him in the NFC. As for Campbell, yes, he was injured, but outlets like Pro Football Focus were really high on his performance, claiming him to be one of the best 3-4 defensive ends in the league.

I would expect Peterson and Washington to for sure get in as reserves, as well as Fitzgerald. The rest of them deserve to be as well, but I don't know if they will make it. Also, notice how I didn't mention any offensive palyers outside of Fitz. Pretty sad, if you ask me.

Just another example of why the Pro Bowl is a big joke.
