NFL inactive list, Week 16: John Skelton inactive for Cardinals, Urlacher out for Bears

The starting QB at the start of the season sits behind a sixth round rookie and a guy that the team signed two weeks ago.

The Arizona Cardinals and the Chicago Bears are set to kick off this afternoon at University of Phoenix with the roof open. The inactives have been released and we get to see just how far quarterback John Skelton has fallen. He is healthy but inactive this afternoon, sitting behind starter Ryan Lindley and recently signed Brian Hoyer.

Skelton began the season as the team's starter. He now sits behind a guy that has been with the team two weeks.

It makes sense, though, because in evaluating the quarterbacks, the coaching staff and front office need to see whether or not Hoyer is someone they want to retain. They already know what they have in Skelton.

Also inactive for the Cardinals is safety Rashad Johnson, who sat out of practice most of the week.

For the Bears, linebacker Brian Urlacher will sit out and is inactive. His absence causes some shifts on defense. Nick Roach will slide over and take Urlacher's spot. Taking Roach's spot in the lineup will be Geno Hayes.

Tackle Jonathan Scott is also inactive for Chicago. Gabe Carimi will slide over from guard to tackle to replace him and then Chris Spence will start the. game at right guard.

Here are all the inactives for each team:

Bears:

  • QB Josh McCown
  • WR Dane Sanzenbacher
  • LB Blake Costanzo
  • LB Brian Urlacher
  • DT Henry Melton
  • T Jonathan Scott
  • DE Cheta Ozougwu

Cardinals

  • QB John Skelton
  • S Rashad Johnson
  • G Senio Kelemete
  • OL Mike Gibson
  • TE Kory Sperry
  • WR Early Doucet
  • DE Ronald Talley
