You may have already seen the link here on the site to the SB Nation Arizona article about the roster moves the Arizona Cardinals made on Wednesday. With tight end Rob Housler nursing a shoulder injury that would keep him out of action on Sunday against the 49ers, he was placed on injured reserve so another player could fill the roster spot.
Replacing him is practice squad receiver Kerry Taylor, a product of Hamilton High School and ASU. The choice to promote is likely motivated by injuries, as well. Both Early Doucet and LaRon Byrd did not practice on Wednesday.
Taylor has been with the Cardinals since he joined the practice squad on September 24. He began the 2012 season on the practice squad of the Patriots. Originally a rookie free agent signing of the Packers in 2011, he spent time on the practice squads of the Packers, Patriots, and 49ers last season and then was in training camp this year with the Vikings before returning to the Patriots on waivers. He is the son of former NFL defensive back Keith Taylor and the nephew of former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver John Taylor.
To take the spot on the practice squad vacated by Taylor, the team brought back defensive end Everrette Thompson, who was with the team in training camp and was an undrafted rookie out of Washington.
