Cardinals vs. 49ers: Who was the player of the game?

The final game of the season for the Cardinals marks the final time we have to award a player with the game ball. Who deserves it this time, despite the Cardinals not winning the game?

USA TODAY Sports

The Cardinals may have lost, but that doesn't mean their weren't any stand out performers from their game against the 49ers. Let's jump right into the action and take a look at all the players worthy of the 'game ball' and decide which of them was the player of the game.

Michael Floyd

Floyd saw what was arguably his best day as a receiver in the NFL after being targeted 14 times by quarterback Brian Hoyer. He wound up catching 8 passes for 166 yards and a hail mary touchdown on fourth down near the end of the game. Floyd did have the fumble that was recovered by the 49ers, but he still had a nice game all-around.

Some feel that Floyd has not progressed the way the team would have liked in his rookie season, but then again, look at Larry Fitzgerald's season numbers. It is hard to judge a wide receiver's performance when they can't get the ball. Good game from Floyd.

Calais Campbell

Campbell was disruptive both in the passing and run defense on Sunday, collecting the team's only sack of Colin Kaepernick. He also had another QB hit and a tackle for loss, so another nice day for the Cardinals' top defensive end.

Daryl Washington

Washington looked like a man on fire on the field for the Cardinals. After being snubbed from the Pro Bowl in favor of Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman, both of whom play for the 49ers, Washington wanted to show that he is certainly far from chopped liver. He had 11 more tackles on the day and finishes the season as the Cardinals' leading tackler.

Dave Zastudil

Zastudil, again! He may be just a punter, but as Rich Eisen would say, punters are people, too. He almost broke the NFL record for most punts in a single season, but came up just a bit short. Still, he played well against the 49ers and had a 70-yard punt after it was misjudged by Ted Ginn, Jr. Great day and great season for Zasty.
