The Arizona Cardinals had the worst offense in the NFL in 2012. The result? A 5-11 season and a lot of pink slips. The Arizona Cardinals officially announced the firing of Ken Whisenhunt and Rod Graves, but there was more. They also said goodbye to almost their entire offensive coaching staff.
From the team's press release:
"In addition, the following assistant coaches have also been let go by the team: Russ Grimm (Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line), Mike Miller (Offensive Coordinator), Chad Grimm (Offensive Quality Control), John McNulty (Quarterbacks), Frank Reich (Wide Receivers), and Tommie Robinson (Running Backs)."
The only offensive coach to be retained as of right now is tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens. Team president Michael Bidwill will address the media at 3:30 PM this afternoon.
While the entire offensive staff was let go, no one on the defensive staff was relieved of their duties. This indicates the likelihood that defensive coordinator Ray Horton will get a shot at Whisenhunt's job, although he reportedly will have options. It has been reported that Horton has as many as three head coaching interviews this week.
More changes and announcements will surely be forthcoming.
