With all that is going on at the NFL combine, there is a lot to pay attention to. And at one point, Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict was a player that many fans here on ROTB felt could be a great pick for the Cardinals in the first round.
After his performance in Indianapolis, I don't think anyone wants him in the first round.
He didn't do any lifting, raising questions about his strength.
His 40-yard dash was clocked officially at 5.09 seconds. That made him the slowest linebacker in Indy.
His broad jump was last among linebackers at 104 inches.
His vertical leap came in at 30 inches, second to last at his position.
He did not run the 20-yard shuttle, the 60-yard shuttle or the 3-cone drill.
His interview with the media pushed blame around.
I cannot recall someone going from so highly touted to so underwhelming as a prospect. Something has happened with him. The talent is there.
The question is now, having seen his play the first two years at ASU, would you risk a lower pick on him or draft him at all? There is great potential there, but a lot of questions.
