With the 5th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select: Morris Claiborne, CB (LSU).
With Trent Richardson off the board at their pick, the Bucs have no problem taking arguably the best defensive player in this years draft. One year after fellow LSU DB Patrick Petersen was selected #5 overall by the Arizona Cardinals, "Mo" fills a need as a defensive playmaker on a young defense. Although Tampa Bay signed Eric Wright and re-signed Ronde Barber, Aquib Talib's availability is in question due to legal issues, and Ronde isn't getting any younger. There are a couple of other directions the Buccaneers can go with this pick, but I feel like this is the most likely pick at #5 overall.
Commentary...
Claiborne is clearly a talented prospect and the Bucs need help in the secondary. And although stud WR Justin Blackmon is still on the board and he would be a great addition for Josh Freeman to throw to. LSU is churning out quality corner after quality corner.
