We have reached the end of the 17 undrafted rookies that the Arizona Cardinals have signed. We finish with receiver Marc Wilson. Now...I remember another Marc Wilson a long time ago. He was the backup QB for the Patriots in Tecmo Super Bowl. He also was known for a being a great guy that didn't even swear. But this isn't that guy.
The Cards press release gives this background:
Wide receiver MARC WILSON (5-11, 190) from St. Anselm College established school records for receptions (211), receiving yards (2,149) and receiving touchdowns (17) in 37 career games. He was a two-time All-Northeast 10 Conference first-team selection including in his senior year as he had 72 receptions for 770 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 1,626 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns for a school record 30 total TD's. He switched to wide receiver as a sophomore after starting as a running back as a freshman.
Wilson is fast, but does not have elite speed. His 40 time was in the low 4.5 range. He is built much like Andre Roberts, which puts him slightly on the side of shorter than ideal at the position. But he is versatile. Without knowing much more about him, I picture a guy like Jamal Miles for ASU, who can player in the backfield and out wide.
Again, at receiver, he is going to have a hard time finding a roster spot, even on the practice squad. But do you think he has a chance?
