Training camp has arrived and judging by all the tweets, the players seem more than ready to get back to action up in Flagstaff. New faces have arrived and will need to begin meshing with the team that has already been there for the past few seasons.
Unfortunately, a couple of familiar faces won't be able to participate in the on-field drills. Both Beanie Wells and Jeff King have been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Wells has had a rather quiet offseason, but what we do know is that he is still rehabbing the knee that he had surgery on back in January. The extent of the injury and what type of surgery he had are unknown, but there has been plenty of speculation that it was a microfracture surgery.
Jeff King will join Beanie on the sidelines after tearing his quadriceps muscle.
There is some good news with all of this, though. According to Darren Urban, head coach Ken Whisenhunt does not expect either of them to be down for too long. Because they were put on the PUP list and will not be on it once the season begins, they are allowed to come off of it at any time. They do not have to wait six games into the season.
Whiz also noted that he still has plenty of faith in Beanie and when it comes down to it, we know he and Ryan Williams will both be in the mix for playing time.
Camp is now in session. If any further injuries occur, we will be the first ones to let you know.
