The Arizona Cardinals released on Monday the first depth chart of the preseason, as they will open the league's preseason this Sunday evening. There are a number of positional battles going on, and you might or might not be surprised at who is ahead in some of those battles.
The biggest question is always about quarterback. You may disagree, but Kevin Kolb is the starter.
But there is a smaller positional battle with the quarterback position, and that is for the number three spot. Rookie Ryan Lindley is fourth, with Rich Bartel sitting at number three.
Rookie Senio Kelemete has been talked about a bit by fans, saying that he might develop quickly enough to supplant Adam Snyder at right guard. Guess what? Kelemete isn't even playing right guard. He backs up Daryn Colledge on the left side.
In the battle for WR2, Andre Roberts is the starter. Michael Floyd? He is third behind Roberts and Early Doucet.
On the defensive side of the ball, there aren't huge surprises. At cornerback, William Gay is the starter with Patrick Peterson.
For those who are wondering about Quan Sturdivant, he is third at his position behind Paris Lenon and Stew Bradley. Reggie Walker is second behind Daryl Washington at the other ILB position.
The one interesting thing for me was at strong safety. Rashad has been backing up the free safety spot O believ since he came into the league. This year he is listed as the backup at strong safety.
Any surprises for you? And how many changes do you expect to see by the end of the preseason?
