Another loss but there were bright spots from late round picks as well as those who weren't drafted at all. We'll take a look at those guys and if they possibly upped their chances to make the 53 man roster.
Gino Crump: He found a way to get a catch. While he's a longshot to make our 53 man roster PS could do some good things for him, and I'm sure he'll make his way on the roster sometime during the season.
There are 2 guys I'm putting as UDFA's because a) They've only played preseason or b) They haven't had all that much time on any roster.
William Powell: He definitely showed up. Out of Kansas last year he was brought into the backfield for preseason and no one seemed to like him. He made the PS and this year if the Cardinals don't take him on their 53 man roster, I'm positive someone will take a chance with him. For example, last year he ran for 80 some yards on 20+ carries. Last night... 92 yards on 9 carries.
Ricky Schmitt: I've always been astounded as to why this guy has never stayed on a roster. He can punt and he can do kickoffs (but then again anyone can kick it through the endzone from the 35 yard line). While I'm sure he doesn't make our roster, I wouldn't be surprised if he did. He's averaged 40 yard per punt the last two weeks and while not impressive he does have the leg to punt 50, 60 yards down field.
Those were the guys who made some noise yesterday. Gideon continued to make some good plays, but is more than likely a PS guy with how crowded our Defensive Backfield is.
