2013 NFL Draft: Could Arizona Cardinals be looking towards Canada for a quarterback?

Adam Pierre, residing in long-lost football outpost Ottawa, looks stateside.

Jerry Lai-US PRESSWIRE

In the ever ending reach of finding a NFL quarterback, have the Arizona Cardinals ever looked past the country's boundaries?

At tiny Charleton University in Ottawa, Canada -- Adam Pierre is making a name for himself and moving up the NFL draft boards. At 6-6 260 pounds with a cannon arm and 4.5 40 speed, the former Raven has set Canadian college records while slowly moving into NFL draft talk.

Cousin of former MLB New York Met phenom pitcher Sidd Finch, Pierre has been known for 70 yard TD bombs as well as 70 yard TD boot option runs. While new Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians is not favorable towards read-option play callers, would he turn down what scouts are calling a much faster, more mobile Ben Roethlisberger that he supervised with the Pittsburgh Steelers?

The Cardinals have gone the small college route before with Northern Iowa's Kurt Warner, Presbyterian's Justin Bethel, Greg Toler's Saint Paul's college, etc and have reached beyond the borders with LB Stevie Baggs among others. The NFL quarterback fraternity other than Warner and Miami of Ohio's Roethlisberger has seen Eastern Illinois' Tony Romo succeed, so is a Canuck that far out of hand?

A year ago, Pierre wasn't on the scene, just wallowing in the Amhearst Canadian League. Then after having thrown for 5,280 yards and 59 TDs while leading his team to the 2012 Macafee Central League title with a 12-0 record, teams have begun to take notice.

Mostly viewed as a undrafted free agent, his stock has risen enough that clubs are seriously thinking of taking him in the later rounds, some projecting as high as a 4th. Uninvited to the combine, he will hold his pro day workout April 1st at Charleston's Plimpton's field with many NFL personnel expected to be there, including the Cardinals.

Should the Cards drink some "Strange Brew" and pull a Bob and Doug McKenzie and draft the young stud with the gaggle of QBs they already have? Or should they be a hoser and leave him on the ice?
