The Arizona Cardinals enter their third week in their head coaching search and at least one of their candidates is hoping to find out soon what his fate will be.
According to Pro Football Talk, Horton has not been made aware the team's plan for him, particularly that the team is favoring hiring Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy as head coach and keeping Horton as defensive coordinator.
What the PFT story says is that Horton "expects to hear more by Tuesday."
Horton is the only candidate that we know has had a second interview with the team. McCoy, Bengals OC Jay Gruden and allegedly Steelers OC Todd Haley have also been interviewed.
Horton is the only candidate that has a defensive background. The team is known to be focusing on how to fix the offensive unit, dealing with in particular the quarterback position and situation.
If Horton is not promoted, it seems that e will probably remain as defensive coordinator, as he is out of other possibilities to be a head coach at the moment. He also interviewed with the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns, but both of those teams have made their hires.
Cardinals team president Michael Bidwill has said he does not have a timetable for the hire, but if there is any truth to this report, then Cardinals fans may soon know who will be leading the team in 2013.
