Fresh off of the news that Mike McCoy chose to coach the San Diego Chargers rather than come to Arizona for a second interview with the Cardinals, and also the news that Darrell Bevell is going to interview here, there is now a new name connected to the Arizona Cardinals head coaching position. According to a reports by NFL.com reporter Ian Rapaport, the team has requested permission from the Indianapolis Colts to interview offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.
The #Cardinals have requested permission to speak with Colts OC Bruce Arians, according to a source.

Arians was the OC for the Pittsburgh Steelers before they changed directions this season. He then went to coach for the Colts and had great success with quarterback Andrew Luck, and was acting head coach for the team while head coach Chuck Pagano underwent treatment for leukemia.
Arians was in the running for the head coaching job for the Chicago Bears, but they have reportedly hired Marc Trestman.
The Cardinals have targeted two coaches they lost out on -- Andy Reid and McCoy. They have interviewed Ray Horton twice, Todd and Haley and Jay Gruden once, they will interview Bevell on Wednesday and now have their eyes on Arians.
Many fans have been asking for some time why Arians' name has not come up. We do not know why he has not come up until now, but those fans can now feel comforted that the team is looking into the guy many consider to be the strongest candidate out there.
